LPG Value Cars represent SME Autogas a
leading specialist in the highest quality and
most advanced installations of LPG Systems
into petrol engines.
Our total commitment to quality processes
ensures every conversion is carried out to
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacture)
standards. The LPG Fuel system is installed
to the vehicle, whilst retaining the vehicle's
original petrol system, creating a dual fuel vehicle.
The SME Autogas Centre is staffed by fully trained and qualified
technicians and carry out the highest quality installations in accordance
with LPGA guidelines.
SME Autogas are main agents in Scotland for Nicholson McLaren
Engines (NME), who supply Teleflex and Eurogas systems and for
Millbrook, who are a sister company of Vauxhall. Teleflex are
OE/preferred suppliers to Vauxhall, Citroen, Peugeot, Mitsubishi, Ford
and Proton, etc.
SME also carry out factory option conversions for Cadillac using
Teleflex equipment, this can only be carried out by NME in England
and SME in Scotland and we carry out factory Vauxhall conversions for
Millbrook and Vauxhall dealers.
SME has the training & capability to alter Teleflex software if required
and we have very strong technical support from Teleflex and Eurogas
in the Netherlands together with NME and Millbrook in the UK.
We also carry out work for Volvo and Volkswagen on factory systems
who also use Necam products. With the price of petrol and diesel
rocketing making running costs spiral out of control there is an
alternative...LPG Autogas !
Modern petrol engines lend themselves well to LPG
conversion. The most common arrangement is the dual fuel
system which can run on LPG or petrol.
A dashboard mounted switch makes it easy to change from
one fuel to another with no discernible change in performance,
even when the vehicle is in motion. The tank is usually fitted in
the boot of the vehicle.
A complete range of tank options is available to cater for all
types of applications. LPG fuel systems now use micro
electronics for optimum control and efficiency and give a
thoroughly reliable and durable conversion.
Installation depends on the type of vehicle and normally takes around
3-4 days. Apart from one or two holes to be drilled in the floor pan or
chassis section there are no structural changes to the vehicle.
Key safety features of a conversion include systems that automatically shut off the LPG tank which the ignition
is turned off, the engine stalls, or fuel pipes are damaged.
The on-board tank is also key to safety. Accordingly, all Autogas tanks are rigorously tested and designed to
withstand high impact and extreme temperatures. In fact, LPG tanks can survive far greater impact than diesel
or petrol tanks.
The main components and process of a conversion consist of the following :
